Columbia Child Development Program won an Outstanding Display award from the Bloomsburg Fair for their display which "gives children the tools to calm down".
The display was located in the Educational Building during the week of Fair.

The students participated in the Library's Reading Program - read 100 books and receive a prize.
So far, two of our children reached the goal of 100 books! CONGRATULATIONS!!!

HEAD START May 2016 Using their STEM skills, students Bridge Vansock and Mason Mailander built a castle to keep out the dinosaurs. STEM = Science, Technology, Engineering & Math Drexton Hodges and Damion Allen use a STEM kit to solve the Three Little Pigs house building problems.

Students at Town Park Village Paint Their Own Bookcase

Artists from "Heart to Art" helped the students paint characters from some of their favorite books onto a bookshelf, which will remain in the center. This project was sponsored by PNC Bank during PNC Great Month, celebrating young children and early education.
A special THANK YOU to the artists, Judith Youshock, Dorothy Sedock and Beth Burkhauser; and to PNC representatives Angela Ferri, Paula Sullivan and Mattie Rebuck for making this event possible.

Guest reader Maryann McLaughlin, a Clinical Nurse Educator at Geisinger-Bloomsburg Hospital, reads this year's PA One Book, "Kite Day: A Bear and Mole Story", to Head Start students at the Town Park Village center during the Week of the Young Child celebration.
Columbia County Commissioners Richard C Ridgway, David M. Kovach, and Chris E. Young issued a proclamation declaring April 10-16 the Week of the Young Child in Columbia County.

Joshua Bogart and his daughter, Connie Rodriguez, attended the Head Start Daddy and Me Breakfast at the Laporte General Store on Saturday, January 30, 2016.
Fathers and father figures were given the Head Start book "Home as a Learning Environment." Fathers were instructed that areas of the home, such as a workshop and kitchen, could serve as learning environments. They discussed how learning can be taught in many ways. All major areas of learning were covered including ideas for teaching math, science, language, literacy, and cognitive development. |
