Pictured are families from Columbia Sullivan Head Start who recently graduated from the Positive Solutions for Families program. The program is funded through the Berwick Health and Wellness Fund of the Central Susquehanna Community Foundation. The positive parenting techniques that the parents learned during the program complement the positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS) program that is being implemented with the children in their Head Start classrooms. PBIS focuses on intentionally teaching children social emotional skills, like how to express feelings, solve problems, make friends and stay calm when frustrated.
